CAMEL NEWS CARAVAN [also PLYMOUTH NEWS CARAVAN] (1949-56).  John Cameron Swayze helmed NBC's nightly news from February 14, 1949 to October 26, 1956; he provided voice-over for NBC's Camel Newsreel Theatre, that aired from 1948.  Camel News Caravan followed a series of NBC nightly news broadcasts that started with the 1940 radio-TV simulcast Sunoco News (with Lowell Thomas), and continued with such offerings as: Esso Television Reporter, The War As It Happens, and NBC Television Newsreel/The Esso Newsreel.
